“Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a harder battle.” - Plato
Be kinder than necessary.
It seems simple, yet at times, we can feel beat down by the world and that we have nothing left to give. When we feel the world is such an unkind place, we can take a moment to examine our own thoughts and actions.
There are so many opportunities in which we can show kindness and compassion.
It is true that the person tailing you on the road may simply be irritated at your chosen rate of speed. Maybe they are just rude or maybe they just received some devastating news and are rushing to be with loved ones. The acquaintance who doesn’t acknowledge you in passing, could be snubbing you or may actually feel extremely uncomfortable in social situations.
We don’t know the stories behind the actions of others and what battles they are fighting. So, to assume the option that causes the least grief for us, can also bring more peace to the world. Without feeling wronged or cheated, we can give a little compassion to the world today, and be kinder than necessary.
