Seaweed Super Popcorn
Yields: one bowl of popcorn Prep Time: 5 minutes Total Time: under 10 minutes
Excellent as a snack, this popcorn is sprinkled with dulse seaweed flakes as a good source of B6 and B12, in addition to other minerals. There is a very mild taste, so those with a less than ambitious palate will not be offended.
One bowl of popped popcorn
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1-2 tablespoons of seaweed flakes per every 4 cups popped popcorn
1. Pop popcorn and set aside.
2. Once popcorn is popped, place in bowl. Melt butter and add water and salt to butter mixture. Toss evenly over popcorn.
3. Sprinkle seaweed flakes over popcorn and gently toss until evenly coated. Enjoy!
Here I go again! Any chance I get to increase the nutritional value of the food we love, I get to it!
You may be thinking, “Ew, seaweed.” However, I can assure you, the taste is minimal, if even detectable. My kids don’t mind, and it’s actually my husband that seems to protest with the “green stuff” on his popcorn. Sure enough, the movie starts, and he forgets all about it.
And truly, the only hint of flavor is a bit of sea salt. I like to mix water and butter so you get the flavor of butter, but cut it with some water and the popcorn isn’t simply drenched in pure butter.
We enjoy this as a snack for movie night, after school or even when on the go!
